Borghetto with its narrow streets still gives the impression of an unspoilt historical village, far from mass tourism. However, the small romantic village owes its world fame solely to its tortellini. Every year, on the third Tuesday in June, the famous Tortellini Festival takes place on the Visconti Bridge.
Reachable within 20 minutes.
From Peschiera, the turquoise river Mincio meanders through a lovely hilly landscape to Mantua. On its way, the river passes the idyllic village of Valeggio sul Mincio. Even from a distance, you can see the magnificent 13th-14th century Scaliger Castle - today the centre of the impressive Sigurtà parks.
With its 600,000 m², Parco Sigurtà is probably one of the most extraordinary Italian landscape gardens. The award-winning, extensive park stretches along the Mincio River near the romantic village of Valeggio, just a few kilometres south of Lake Garda.
Apart from the fact that the basilica is the oldest place of pilgrimage in Italy, its location is particularly worth a visit: the church, together with the buildings belonging to it, is nestled above a vertiginous precipice in the vertical rock. This stone wall also forms the western boundary of the basilica's inner nave, an almost unique architectural masterpiece.
After about 1.5 hours by train from Peschiera, you reach the world-famous lagoon city of Venice. The city has a rich cultural heritage: numerous palaces adorn the banks of the Grand Canal and an indescribable variety of churches and squares characterise the cityscape.
From Peschiera, a beautiful cycle path, which is about 45 km long, always leads along the water to Mantova. The city itself is surrounded by several lakes and is therefore somewhat reminiscent of an island and thus has its very own flair. The proximity to Lake Garda makes Mantova an ideal destination for all Lake Garda holidaymakers.
The city of Romeo and Juliet is considered the first typical Italian city when coming from the north and is a place full of life and bustle. For many, it is the "most romantic city in Italy", mainly due to its historical development and incomparably well-preserved historic buildings, as well as its geographical position.
